Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, also known as the Golden Rock Pagoda, is a very special and holy place in Myanmar, a country in Asia. It’s a small pagoda (temple) that sits on top of a big golden rock on the edge of a cliff. The rock and the pagoda are completely covered in gold leaf from those that pilgrimage to the site and they shine brightly especially at sunrise and sunset. Buddhists believe that a hair of Buddha keeps the rock balanced on the edge without falling, and that the rock may actually levitate off the mountain. Many people visit this place to pray and to enjoy the amazing view from the mountain. It’s one of the most magical and important Buddhist sites in Myanmar.
