Picture a place in Bagan, Myanmar that looks like it’s made of gold. That’s the Shwezigon Pagoda. On sunny days, it’s so shiny it almost looks like it’s lit from within (It is actually not made of gold though – the temple is gold plated). This temple is very old – over a thousand years old in fact. It’s surrounded by smaller shrines, like a big golden castle with many tiny castles around it. Each one is filled with carvings that tell interesting stories. The most amazing part? Inside, there are things that belonged to Gautama Buddha himself. People go there to see the shining beauty of the pagoda, discover stories from its long past and to feel the moment of peace it offers.
